There's no question in my mind about the raw power of Louise Brooks' photogeny. Film scholars have debated her acting ability for decades, but there has been little argument against her ability to seize viewers with her compelling gaze. Film, particularly silent film, is a primarily VISUAL medium, and as the audience, we will be drawn to what an actress can communicate through her her unspoken essence and presence.
