Had a killer time this year at the local Los Angeles regional burning Man event: Bequinox.
I’m lucky enough to be a part of the extended crew that makes up camp Awesometown, and they invited me to come camp with them and do a DJ set.
I put in hours of work curating a 75 minute set with some older and brand new tunes. I don’t really think anyone there realized that I write all my stuff from scratch. I’m not using pop tunes and mixing in beats via Serato. That being said, those who use that DJ platform still do an amazing job of creating a vibe and soundscape and exposing me to a lot of music out there that I hadn’t previously heard of.
It really inspired me to look into at least some beginner level DJ software and I busted out Albeton and my Novation soundboard… I’m looking for ways to have more of a live experience with my tunes rather than pre-producing the whole set. Maybe if I can get a bunch of my loops all queued up for each song I can trigger different live versions and mixes of them to be a little more spontaneous life.
I am posting some photos from the event below… Enjoy!
